This gift giving season of 2020 will be particularly challenging for some financially. I debated whether to put a gift guide together or not because of this and decided to just go for it, for those who are privileged enough to be able to give gifts.
I do not enjoy the stress leading up to Christmas. Gift-giving stresses me out so I choose not to do much of it. In my family, we do Secret Santa where we only have to buy for one person which is great.
Here are just a suggestion of some of the products and companies that I am loving
1. Give back locally
Find a charity close to your heart and see if you can donate to it. A great idea could be to donate money, food or time to a local food bank.
A quick google search of your area will tell you what food banks are near you, and you can donate money online.
If you prefer, you could contact them & drop off food with them.
The Trussell Trust has a lot of food banks spread throughout the North of Ireland & GB. You can type in your postcode here and it will tell you what food bank you are near: https://www.trusselltrust.org/get-help/find-a-foodbank/
2. As well as giving back locally, you could give back to a charity close to your heart further away. One I am particularly passionate about is Mona Relief. There is a lot of war and poverty going on at Yemen at the moment. . With as simple as a small monthly amount, you are able to feed a family every month. Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light. —Vera Nazarian
Here are some of my favourite books that I have loved reading & I sincerely recommend:
Untamed: Start Living Stop Pleasing.
Fun easy which does what it says on the tin.
The Four Agreements.
A simple, straightforward book discussing 4 principles to live by. Recommended for anyone starting out on the journey of self-discovery. I have gifted this book to so many friends it is that good. A classic.
Don’t let the cover put you off. The name & cover of this book put me off reading it for ages as I thought it looked too intense. But it's not, it is a nice easy read. This book is a game changer when it comes to boosting self-esteem & improving self-image.
What I Know For Sure
Written by the wise Oprah Winfrey, this read was heart-some and enjoyable. It will bring you back into alignment about what actually matters in life.
Can’t Hurt Me
This book was written by a Navy Seal and is an incredible autobiography story. Reading this book will be lighting a fire under you to help you stay disciplined and get shit done. Could be a great gift for a guy but I also recommend it for everyone.
4. DRY BODY BRUSH
Do this each morning, all over the body. Great for stimulating the lymphatic system for draining toxins out of the body. This also reduces cellulite and helps you feel more energised.
Who doesn’t love a new piece of jewellery? I love Flohemian Rhapsody’s jewellery, especially these hooped pearl earrings that I wear all the time. I am even wearing them right now as I type this.
The founder of the company is giving 25% of profits until Christmas to 2 different female led Organisations (12.5% each); Women's Aid in the North of Ireland and Downtown Eastside Women's Centre in Vancouver - another reason to support this amazing business.
6. PRETY LITTLE DUCK
This website has a beautiful of home accessories including candles, candleholders, Christmas decorations, cushions, throws and so many other beautiful items.
7. ART PRINTS
“Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness” ` Anni Albers
Art just adds so much vibrancy to a room. I love these beautiful landscape art prints taken around the coast of the North of Ireland. These would make a lovely present to someone else, or even for yourself.
8. SASS & BOHO CANDLES
I love these candles as they smell amazing, sustainable, clean-burning and natural. My favourites are the Burning Irish Turf & the Clementine & Clove candles. (which smells like Christmas, if Christmas had a smell)
9. INFRARED SAUNAS
The health benefits of infrared saunas are so good and you even feel AMAZING after a session. Better sleep, skin, more energy and a boosted immune system are just some of the benefits. A great gift idea could be to get someone a voucher to use an infrared sauna.
Natur & Co is an infrared sauna based outside Omagh which I would highly recommend. You can find out more and book on their Instagram page: @naturandcovitality
10. S’more kit
I am a huge fan of the saying, everything in moderation, and one of my favourite indulgences is s’mores. They are so fun to create and very tasty. You can order your very own s’more box from their Instagram page:@smore.the.merrier
